Prince Nikolaos of Greece and Denmark presents pictures from the Qatari desert and photographs of the Aegean Sea, exhibited side by side at the Benaki Museum of Islamic Art in Athens.
These works underline the beauty and the individual character of variegated landscapes, while in some of them, their distinguishing features, sand and water, are fused to produce playful illusions. Based on local architecture and enriched by traditional music, the installations accentuate cultural dialogue through art.

Besides, the interaction between themes, media and stimuli is the key concept in Prince Nikolaos’ work. The Qatari desert was captured by the lens of Prince Nikolaos while he was visiting Doha as a guest of Sheikha Al-Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, one of the most significant figures in the field of art worldwide.

In Athens, the photographs will be exhibited in a Bedouin tent (bait al shaar) designed especially for this event at the courtyard of the Benaki Museum of Islamic Art. Additionally in Doha, the photographs will be shown in a traditional windmill of the Aegean Sea, which will be erected in the Katara Cultural Village.
