Why Go:

The Benaki Museum of Islamic Art presents “JAMAL: The Silk Road,” an exhibition of paintings exploring the ancient trade routes that connected China to the Mediterranean Sea. Jamal unravels the past of a closed world, where limits and bounds were set by The Silk Route. The exhibition is enriched by drawings, illustrating the artist’s approach to his subjects.

Jamal was born in Syria in 1961 into a Yemeni family. He studied mechanical engineering at Aleppo University. His works have been displayed in New York, Dusseldorf Germany, Lebanon, Jordan and Dubai. He started presenting his works at the age of 17, and has since received many awards and distinctions in the Arabic world.
