Although left unfinished at the time of his death at the age of thirty, Mozart’s funeral mass has for centuries caused lavish rumours of murderous forebodings, particularly around the anonymous commissioner of the work, prompting many to question whether the composer actually died of natural causes or if there was a more sinister cause to his untimely end.
What remains is a supernaturally beautiful work, performed by the Balthasar Neumann Choir and Ensemble, together with a renowned quartet and led by esteemed conductor, Thomas Hengelbrock.
