The Athens and Epidaurus Festival presents Ruined by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Lynn Nottage. This award winning play is directed by Dennis Hilton-Reid and Youla Boudali of the Diaspora Theatre Company. Written by Nottage after her visit to Uganda, the story revolves around a woman who struggles to survive during the Civil War. She is a brothel owner working with prostitutes who are gang rape victims. The play sheds light on Ugandan society and American, African and Greek actors will narrate the stories of the people who survive under such cruel conditions. Ruined blends humour with documentary theatre and features live music and original audio-visual material.
