50TH WORLD CONGRESS OF DANCE comes to Athens

Why Go: A unique 5 day event encompassing all forms of dance from around the world

The 50th World Congress of Dance Research is to be held in Athens, with the organisation celebrating it 30th anniversary and 50 conferences this year. Around 400 delegates from 30 countries and five continents will attend the events taking place over five days. This unique event will encompass all forms of dance from ballet, folk, ballroom and more. Hosting dancers from every corner of the globe, this event will make it the largest gathering of dance experts from around the world.

Wednesday 5th July – Saturday 8th July

9:30pm –  Evening dance performances from around the world (USA, India, France, Argentina, Spain, Mexico) at the open air Dora Stratou theatre, opposite the Acropolis.

Sunday 9th July

9:30am – A guided visit exploring the costume collection of the Dora Stratou Theatre which includes authentic Greek costumes and jewellery, many more than a century old.

The 50th World Congress on Dance Research is co-organised by the Dora Stratou Dance Dance and the CID Athens and Piraeus Departments in collaboration with the Executive Secretariat of the International Dance Council CID UNESCO. Under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education, the Municipality of Athens, the Region of Attica and the UNESCO National Committee.
