Acclaimed Chinese classical pianist, Yuja Wang will captivate audiences with her virtuosity and her riveting performing style for one night only during the 2019 Athens and Epidaurus Festival at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.

A phenomenal pianist, Wang has astounded audiences in the greatest concert halls around the world since her 2008 graduation from the Curtis Institute of Music. She has enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame, mastering a vast range of solo repertoire, collaborating with notable colleagues in chamber music and performing with preeminent conductors and orchestras from around the globe.
Collaborating with the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra, Wang will open this year’s classical programme of the Athens and Epidaurus Festival, at the iconic “Herodeon”, beneath the slopes of the Acropolis, led by incumbent musical director Gustavo Gimeno.

The programme will include Tchaikovsky’s The Tempest and Fantasy-Overture op. 18 F minor (1873) and Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue in the first part, and Shostakovich’s Concerto for piano and orchestra No. 2 (F major op. 102) and Stravinsky’s The Firebird – Suite (1919).
The concert forms part of the “Konzertdirektion Schmid” tour.
