Embroidery I: Le merveilleux tableau d’Edvard Munch à Paris

The exhibition presents the work of these two artists culminating over three years (2013 – 2016). Two of Rokos’ paintings have been reworked by Pantazi in embroidery, to produce a multi-textured body of work, rendered in colourful threads, reinvigorating the tapestry tradition.

The second artwork aptly named “Embroidery II”

The works are fittingly displayed at Mentis Passementerie, a former Athenian fibre manufacturer, that once produced piping, braids, tassels, military uniforms and more, for over 100 years. It is now one of the Benaki Museum’s satellite exhibition spaces, which also houses a permanent exhibition honouring the history of the workshop and building.
